Where will we be going?
Your guide will choose the best place for the day’s conditions to ensure you have an amazing climbing experience. Some of our favourite options include:
Kerkeslin Falls (WI3, 300m)
This great first ice climb is located 30 minutes South of Jasper. After a 30 minute hike through the forest, the first pitch offers a good opportunity for instruction and coaching from your guide. From there, the route continues up a waterworn slot canyon, following waterfall ice all the way to the top. Since the descent follows the canyon back down, we can turn around at any point. Its sunny aspect makes this a great cold-weather option.
Weeping Wall (WI3-6, 160m)
The most accessible multi-pitch ice in the Canadian Rockies is an hours drive from Jasper, Alberta. The Weeping Wall offers 160m of waterfall ice climbing, with grade options from WI3 (less than vertical) to WI6 (steep to overhanging). The afternoon sun, close proximity to the car and continuous climbing make it an absolute classic.
Curtain Call (WI6, 125m)
One of the original grade 6 ice climbs in the Canadian Rockies, Curtain Call offers 125m of unrelentingly steep ice climbing. This world-class route should be on every ice climbers list! Most years, its second pitch is characterized by a large roof of pure water ice, 100m off the deck. Situated across from some of the biggest peaks in the Canadian Rockies, the vistas won’t disappoint either.
